“The Heart of the
One Who Asks”
MahaSangha Open
Source Retreat June 9-14
Pueblo Mountain Park,
Beulah CO
Chiyono was widowed at 32 and couldn’t get over her grief. She came to the teacher Bukko and asked, “What is Zen?”
Bukko replied, “The heart of the one who asks is Zen; you can’t get it from someone else’s words.”
Once in a while, we are able to gather as the Open Source—the collective of communities in the lineage of Joan Sutherland, Roshi. These include the Awakened Life community in Santa Fe and the four sanghas led by teachers authorized by Joan: Springs Mountain Sangha, Wet Mountain Sangha, Desert Rain Sangha, and Crimson Gate Meditation Community.
When we gather in retreat this way, sitting, eating, walking, singing, dreaming and conversing for days and over nights, we create a powerful field of encouragement in which the Open Source lives, breathes and grows. This is one dynamic way we requite the love of our teacher—to dream the Way onward, with all the creativity of our collective beings. Our individual awakenings both form and are formed by the wave that rises to meet this particular, mysterious and poignant time.
Pueblo Mountain Park was discovered, used and greatly enjoyed by Wet Mountain Sangha last summer. Our fees, payments and registration deadline are in response to what the center requires.
We want everyone to come and urge you to look carefully at the registration form and respond as soon as you are able.
May 4, 2019 is
the deadline for registration and full payment!
