Sunday afternoon Koan exploration with Sarah Bender Sensei

When we take up some questions our ancestors have asked, stories they’ve told to point to the territory of freedom—-when we hold these in our hearts and minds of today and bring our lives into play with them, something new, fresh, utterly creative can happen— come join in this exploration.

The Autumn deepens, the days shorten, and our heart-minds naturally turn inward.  I invite you to hold this period of time as a practice period.

It’s a chance to wonder about your life; to see with a fresh eye, as the leaves drop, the roots, branches and seeds of this time for you. What is falling away? What seems to be steady at the moment, continuing? What may be ready for a fallow time, or sailing through the edges of your awareness, calling?

It’s also a chance to let this community of practice support your own resolve for awakening.  In our times together, we get to do this: to encourage each other, to celebrate each other, to learn from each other.  To befriend each other.
So the invitation is to spend a little time setting yourself an intention for practice during this period.  Actually writing it down may help you.

November 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

During each Session we explore what’s happened practicing with the Koan from the last week, bringing in observations and questions about our practice and letting the Koan serve as a lens for these observations. Then, we introduce and begin to work with a new Koan to take with us into the following week.

No previous koan experience is required; all are welcome
No fee; suggested donation $10
