It is with deep happiness we announce that during the full moon weekend Sarah Bender of Springs Mountain Sangha received transmission from Joan Sutherland, in a simple ceremony on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. She is now a Roshi of the Pacific Zen School, with the lineage name Noble Servant in the Temple of Heron Dreaming.
It is a small moment whose radiance extends back to the origins of the koan way a thousand years ago and, now, forward into the lives of future pilgrims of that way. We welcome Sarah Bender, Roshi, as she steps barefoot into her new role.
