Greetings Friends!
As our Sangha build date nears, I wanted to provide some more information on our 1st Annual Habitat for Humanity Interfaith Build. We’ll be working together with members of Temple Beit Torah and we have both morning and evening spots available.
Sarah has asked me to say something to our Sangha as I have had the privilege to take part in one of these meaningful projects. It really touched my heart as it was such an authentic experience outside of my normal habitual routine.
From the time we drove in the first nail till the time we handed the home keys over to Pedro and Paula and their 2 beautiful children, it had the feeling that I was part of something that was making a difference in the deepest meaning of that word.
For me, it felt like it was an outward expression of direct human experience beyond the labels of poor or rich, lucky or unlucky, Mexican or American. We were just human beings helping each other out and doing our best. My hope was that the message would be: Even strangers love and care about you and your family. And as Buddhists: We acknowledge your Buddha Nature.
So I’m extremely hopeful our initiative will provide another family with that same feeling of love, hope, and compassion. I can’t say enough positive things about my own experience and we’re really hopeful our Sangha members can come together to put our Love and awareness into action on October 15th.
