WHAT IS ZEN?
The question is asked so many times, so many ways, and is answered in just as many.
Best way to find out is to try it.
But here is a bit about it.
Zen is a path developed over millennia through both Buddhist and Taoist traditions,
centered in meditation
and supported by study, community, ritual, arts, and service.
It’s radically simple in its foundational practices. Really. Not much to learn, lots and lots to discover. And the very simple act of meditation is liberating. It just is.
And, Zen has developed a radical means called koan practice, in which you interact with ancestral teachers and with the stuff of your life in new and surprising ways.
for what?
for the beauty of being fully alive, for one.
And for that little problem that keeps coming up, the one about who am I anyway and who shut me in this prison of miserable delusions.
It’s sweet to find a way to freedom right inside the life and the you that you already have.
So this class will be a dive into Zen practice, starting with meditation.
