Feburary, 2014 Retreat

“Which is the True Qian? ”
an Integrative Retreat with Sarah Bender, Sensei

A very old Chinese story starts like this: “There lived in Han-yang a man called Chang-Kien, whose daughter, Qian (pron: Chen) was of peerless beauty….”  As our story progresses, we find two Qians, impossibly, living separate lives. Then something happens. And in the end, our Zen ancestor poses a critical question for us:
.
“The woman Qian and her spirit separated. Which is the true Qian?”

You are invited to come and spend a leisurely stretch of time in meditation and contemplationtogether — time enough to truly enter the story and let the story enter you — time enough to discover how this question might touch your own deep question.

In an integrative retreat, we weave together silence and conversation. We sit, walk and share a meal in meditative silence; and as we speak and listen to each other, we receive the story, its question and each other as honored guests.
