EcoDharma Meeting
Tuesday,
December 17
6:30-8:30pm
Creek Bend Zendo, 7528
Jenkin Place
What is Zen? Snow in a silver bowl.
What is the Way? A clear-eyed
person falls in to a well.
What is the hair-blown sword?
Each branch of coral holds up the moon.
Baling’s Three Turning Words
The coyotes cry out at
Creek Bend Zendo- we open the door to truly listen. Our Open Source Roshi, Joan
Sutherland, writes, “ Rilke once said that the future enters us before it
happens so that it might be transformed in us. Starfish and kelp, abalone,
coyote, and all the other creatures pour into us, whispering crying shouting
Already like this. We will transform the future we share with them, one way or
the other. Will we be the Ark or the Titanic?”
Join our group and Sarah Bender, Roshi, as we find a place of refuge,
where we can speak of and work with the depth of discoveries, despair, and
yearning that arise in the face of the hard facts of environmental crisis,
and
a place of companionship in action, where we can share experiences of bringing
our Zen practice to our action in the world, and strengthen each other in
skills and in courage.
The SMS EcoDharma group invites you to join in meeting and moving forward.
We’ll sit by the fire, enjoy tea and goodies, and take another step together.
If you would like to be included on the smaller, SMS EcoDharma email list or if
you have any questions, please contact Debbie at: gardenmail@msn.com
Koan gatherings, classes and sutra studies are
supported by donations you drop into a dana bowl, which are deeply
appreciated—but never required.
